"We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today."
- Stacia Tauscher
We spend so much time as early educators trying to prepare children for their first year in public school that we oftentimes don't look at where they are developmentally right now. We forget what we know is right- allowing a child to be a child. I have to remind myself and the other teachers at my center to look at each child individually. I hope that soon, we can allow a child to be great in his or her own way without even having to think about it.
Even as a teacher in public school at the kindergarten level, you feel the same pressure to prepare, prepare, make sure they are ready for 1st grade. I find myself sometimes stopping and thinking the same thing also, you have to let a child be a child. Each child grows and develops at their own pace, and you can not force understanding! Keeping striving for that goal!
